Rajendra Prasad was a freedom fighter, lawyer, scholar. He was an integral part of the Indian National Congress during the Indian independence movement.

Gradually he became one of the leading leaders from Bihar and Maharashtra. After the Republic of India was declared in 1950, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as the President of the Constituent Assembly.
- As a child Rajendra Prasad was tutored by a Muslim maulvi scholar as his father wanted the boy to learn Persian, Hindi and Arithmetic.
- Rajendra Prasad is the only President of India to serve two full terms as President of the country. He worked for almost 12 long years.
- Being an activist in the freedom movement, Rajendra Prasad was also imprisoned during the 'Satyagraha' and 'Quit India Movement'.
- After his term as president ended, he left the National Congress and created new guidelines for members of parliament that are still followed today.
- He was deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi. Highly inspired by his dedication, courage and conviction. He also played a great role in the drafting of the Indian Constitution.
He was a professor of English in a college in Bihar, but later studied law. While studying law, he taught economics at a college in Calcutta.
Rajendra Prasad was awarded the highest civilian award of the country - 'Bharat Ratna' in 1962.He breathed his last on February 28, 1983, at the age of 78. 'Rajendra Smriti Samharalaya' is dedicated to him in Patna.During the freedom movement, he wrote for the revolutionary publishing houses, 'Searchlight' and 'Desh' and also raised funds for these papers.
He wrote several books as a political leader. 'India Divided', 'Words of Freedom', 'Ideas of a Nation: Rajendra Prasad' and 'At the Feet of Mahatma Gandhi' are some of his books.
