Who was Reza Shah Pahlavi?


Reza Shah Pahlavi was the father of modern Iran. Rezashah was the best architect to transform Iran into a modern state by breaking the barriers of various superstitions and stagnation of the Qajar dynasty. He introduced a modern and progressive social system instead of the old-fashioned social system. Internal politics were peaceful during his tenure. In the international field, he maintained good relations with Russia, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries.

Rezashah was born on March 16, 1878, in the famous Pahlavi family of Iran, in Asachhat Fort, Mazedran Province, on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Both his father Major Abbas Ali Khan and grandfather Captain Murad Ali Khan were proud members of the Persian Army.Rezashah was fatherless just 40 days after birth. At the age of 14, he joined the Cossack brigade. In order to free the Persian army from Russian influence, Rezashah assumed the command of the Cossack Brigade in August 1920.

In February 1921, Reza Shah Pahlavi staged a military coup in Tehran and took over as Minister of War. After consolidating his power in various ways, he took over as Minister of State in October 1923.

On October 21, 1924, the last ruler of the Qajar dynasty deposed Ahmad Shah. On December 12, Majlish conferred the title of 'Shah' on Reza Khan. Reza Shah celebrated his coronation on 25 April 1926.
Rezashah was undoubtedly one of the greatest rulers and reformers of 20th century Iran. He is the creator of modern Iran. He brought radical changes in the social and political life of Iran. His efforts ended many abhorrent customs and freed Iran from foreign influence.
